Distinguished Panel to Discuss Paper by Chris Dunford
On Sunday, November 12, five leaders in the microfinance fieldincluding recent Nobel Laureate, Muhammad Yunuswill discuss an important new paper by Freedom from Hunger President Chris Dunford. The panel discussion is part of the Global Microcredit Summit, which this year brings together over 2,000 distinguished delegates from more than 100 countries to assess progress. Dr. Dunford’s paper, commissioned by Summit organizers, speaks directly to this theme as it examines "Evidence of Microfinance's Contributions to Achieving the Millennium Development Goals.” Drawing from the best impact studies and data from leading microfinance institutions, Dr. Dunford identifies a number of sustainable microfinance institutions bringing substantial poverty reduction to large numbers of the very poor. Moreover, he concludes that microfinance can and does contribute to achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, and in a major way. To read more about these findings, download the paper here.
