The Silicon Valley Microfinance Network invited Freedom from Hunger's President, Chris Dunford, and Syed Hashemi of the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP) to present their views on how microfinance can meet the needs of the very poor and how it serves the Millennium Development Goals. Chris presented an overview of his paper, commissioned by the Microcredit Summit, "Evidence of Microfinance's Contribution to Achieving the Millennium Development Goals." Hashemi complemented Chris' presentation with his pilot efforts to integrate microfinance with social safety net programs in order to reach even the destitute poor. The event was well-attended by Network members who brought lots of questions as well as their own observations to the topic.
