Trustees Offer Expertise and Experience to Program Services

Any good nonprofit organization can boast of trustees who provide good governance, oversight and financial support. But few can point to trustees who both shape and ensure program impact. Freedom from Hunger is one of the lucky ones. Our trustees routinely roll up their sleeves and bring all their expertise to bear on our program services. Here are a few recent examples: Business entrepreneur Rich Auger helped design and plan Reach from the initial concept to blueprints for the business plan and is now doing similar work for Micro-business for Health in Ghana. Public health research professor Sheila Leatherman is currently in India and Benin helping to shape the design of MAHP's evaluation research there. Health insurance executives Drs. Art Goshin and Ralph Pothel are contributing to the design of micro-insurance products for very poor clients served by the MAHP initiative. Tropical medicine specialist Dr. Madlyn Stein is working with staff in the Philippines to evaluate CARD's new dengue fever education module. Social marketing expert Mark Marosits guides staff on issues of marketing and branding for Reach, the Micro-business for Health initiative and the organization as a whole. Venture capitalist Dennis Rohan helped shape our new Case for Support for the Reach for Three Million Plan. In addition to these examples, all trustees regularly provide solid oversight, strategic planning guidance and wise governance as well as financial support for our work.
