Andean Programs Receive Social Performance Measurement Training
Freedom from Hunger has just completed a Social Performance Measurement project, funded by the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP). Social Performance Measurement (SPM) contributes to effective translation of an institution's social mission into practice. Our commitments in the project included the development of a mini-survey that measures indicators of food security, empowerment, access to health care, and other outcomes. Bobbi Gray, our specialist in research and evaluation, trained two local implementing partners in the Andes to use the survey, Fundación ESPOIR in Ecuador and Crédito con Educación Rural (CRECER) in Bolivia, over the course of two technical assistance missions. CRECER and Fundación ESPOIR both conducted the mini-survey with their clients in April and May. Results of the mini-surveys will be reported to CGAP and will be compiled with information other organizations are collecting around the world. Such training will continue to play a key role in Freedom from Hunger’s operations as we ensure that we are not just scaling up but also that the very poor clients we serve are receiving high-quality services.
