Implementing Organizations

Freedom from Hunger recognizes that integrated services are strongest when they are implemented by independent local organizations. Furthermore, we know that the poor benefit when implementing organizations and technical assistance providers collaborate—each contributing its expertise and experience.  For these reasons, we do not deliver integrated services to clients directly.  Rather, we focus on working with and supporting implementing organizations to deliver those services effectively, efficiently and at greater scale to the poor.

Our approach to collaboration with implementing organizations aims to:

  • respond directly to real and expressed needs;
  • adapt to local operating contexts;
  • support lateral learning;
  • build staff capacity; and
  • sustain impacts.

Since 1989, we have collaborated with more than 50 implementing organizations in 17 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Examples of our work include  strengthening MFI management and operating systems to improve deep outreach; introducing down-market products into credit union services while improving financial performance; integrating complementary education and training services into rural bank product offerings; and developing linkage opportunities for NGOs to address health service needs of their clients.  To learn more about our services, please follow this link.
