Impact of Credit with Education on Mothers and Their Young Children's Nutrition: Lower Pra Rural Bank Credit with Education Program in Ghana
This is the full version of the study designed to test hypotheses of positive program impact on children’s nutritional status, on their mother’s economic capacity, women’s empowerment and mother’s adoption of key survival health/nutrition practices. This report presents the results from the evaluation research conducted in the Lower Pra Rural Bank Credit with Education program area in coastal Ghana. Findings showed that the vast majority of participants (90%) felt that their incomes have “increased” since they had joined the program. They attributed this increase to expansion of their businesses, reduced input costs as a result of buying in bulk or paying with cash, or new activities or products made possible by access to credit. They also showed improvement in the other variable categories they were tested in mentioned above.
