- Mali Poverty Outreach Study of Kafo Jiginew and Nyesigiso Credit and Savings with Education Programs
- Since 1996, Kafo Jiginew and Nyesigiso credit union networks in Mali added Credit and Savings with Education (CEE) to the products and services offered to their clients. The objective of this study is to determine whether the CEE strategy improves the depth of outreach of Kafo Jiginew and Nyesigiso credit union networks, if they truly reach the poorest members of the community. This study will also examine the obstacles to membership that may deter the poor from participating. The reults showed that although there is a bias for the most food-secure households to join CEE, this bias is small, and overall, the desired poverty level is reached.
